Mike has always supported a wide range of charities but he became fustrated by the slow pace and inefficiency he saw at a number of the smaller charities he supported.

Mike devised a plan to help some of those smaller charities become more commercial and entrepreneurial . Why couldn't they be more focused, negotaite harder with their suppliers and generally apply the J.F.D.I attitude Mike was so used to in business?

So with that thought, The Clare Foundation was formed in 2009.

Nowadays, The Clare Foundation helps hundreds of charities in a variety of ways…

  • Helps UK charities be more commercial, efficient and entrepreneurial
  • Offers training to charities to better themselves
  • Acts as a charity 'hub' for Buckinghamshire
  • Links charities together to share best practice
  • Facilitates the sharing of common back office administration
  • Encourages charity amalgamation in similar arenas

Based near High Wycombe, The Clare Foundation also acts as a hub for local Buckinghamshire charities by offering subsidised accommodation and shared resources. The iconic 'Art Deco' design building sits in a parkland setting within the Chiltern countryside between West Wycombe and Princes Risborough. The objective of The Foundation is to help charities deliver more of their income to their beneficiaries, by reducing their overheads and increasing their efficiency.

Other Charity Interests

Mike's other charitable involvements see him as Patron for The Princes Trust, The Retail Trust and The Child Bereavement Charity, and Chalfonts Community College. A Trustee for The Buckinghamshire Foundation, President of Wycombe 4C, a member of the Court of The Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers, past President of the Furniture Trade Benevolent Association and past Chairman of both Beaconsfield Round Table & 41 Club. Mike is also an active supporter of many local Buckinghamshire charities and several disadvantaged young peoples' Charities such as The Outward Bound Trust.
