History

Tempsford Mill, or rather the site on which it resides, dates back as far as the Domesday Book of 1086, and is mentioned again in historical records for medieval Bedfordshire. Later historical records confirm that there was a mill in Blunham from 1847 until about 1910 when it appears to have ceased operating as a mill as a Robert Brocklebank is shown on records as a private resident living at the Mill House.

Winding its way past Tempsford Mill is the beautiful River Ivel upon which you will find the glorious Blunham Bridge which dates back to the 17th century. The river itself served to deliver large quantities of bulky materials, such as coal, to the nearby towns. Within the grounds of the Mill you can find one of the locks that the barges used to pass through.

Tempsford Mill is a truly stunning location with historical interest that provides an amazingly unique location to visit and simply enjoy.
