Wedding Themes
There are hundreds of different theme options for your wedding. The sheer variation in themes available can engulf a bride and groom to be. Start by choosing a theme to suit your venue, think about colours both you and your fiancé prefer and think about the theme throughout the whole wedding preparation. Here are a few of our favourites.
Scottish Wedding Theme
The stunning Scottish castles Carberry Tower, Ackergill Tower and Kinettles Castle work magnificently well with a Scottish theme. A handsome groom in full kilt attire, Scottish bagpipes providing the background music and a stunning castle can create a real Scottish medieval atmosphere to your wedding day. Every Scottish Castle tells its own story, these ancient buildings have been homes of the great and the good, kings and queens and many have been witness to battles and grand weddings and banquets. This creates a unique venue to spend one of the best days of your life, and a fantastic place to share with your closest family and friends.
Beach Theme
There is nothing more romantic than a wedding photo shoot on a beautiful sandy beach. Ackergill Tower sits on the edge of the rugged Scottish coastline a next to miles of sandy beach stretching in to the far distance; it really is the perfect backdrop for photographs and memories you will treasure forever.
For something really memorable and more’ sea themed’ than ‘beach themed’ Spitbank Fort really does provide the most unique and unusual wedding venue. Surrounded by the sea, this historic fort was built in 1861 to protect Portsmouth’s naval dockyard from French invasion. Now a luxury 5* venue, with a function room for 50 people and 8 luxurious bedroom suites, this is the perfect place for someone seeking an intimate wedding venue to share with their closest family and friends.
Navy Blues and white striped tablecloths can be used to add a beach atmosphere, Rope and driftwood could be incorporated into table decorations, either of these venues look fantastic with even the smallest hint of decoration. If you like to be by the sea, or even in the sea, then these are two truly fantastic places to spend your wedding day.
Vintage Theme
Vintage weddings are the theme of the moment. With numerous ideas online, and plenty of vintage wedding hire stores, the possibilities for this theme are endless. With pastel colours, lace dresses, vintage bunting and old fashioned crockery and cutlery, this is a really special theme. For a country manor backdrop to your vintage themed wedding, Plas Rhianfa and Stanbrook Abbey would be the perfect solution.
Collecting mixed vintage themed decorations from charity shops and antique shops is the most effective way of sourcing things like candle sticks, old luggage cases for table plan backgrounds, and vintage props for around the venue.
Creating a photo-booth is a really fun way of making sure there are photographs of each of the guests, collect props like masks, moustaches, wigs, glasses and fake noses and put some disposable cameras behind a screen, or set up a camera for people to use in the corner of the marquee. Instead of a guest book, why not have a tree of wishes, where guests can write notes on brown string tied package labels and tie them to the branches for a tree of well wishes.
